- Are you feeling stressed because you are looking after someone with a long -term health difficulty?
- Would you like to sit down with others to explore new ways of coping?
- Would you like the opportunity to talk to someone about what you need for your own wellbeing?
Family work offers working in partnership in a structured way. We look at how you may be affected when living with someone who has a mental health or long term health difficulty. Our aim is to support everyone involved.
We know that living with someone with health difficulties can be stressful and that to become stressed yourself is a normal reaction to an abnormal situation.
The term carers and families are used interchangeably to describe individuals who offer support to the person with the health difficulty.
We therefore aim to reduce stress to make a difference to the health of everyone involved. The family is seen as having a role in influencing the course of illness, rather than causing it. Stress management is employed to minimise signs of distress or illness, includes promoting communication that is constructive and exploring day-to-day activities that suit everyone involved.
Karl & Annie can meet with you as a group for you to consider whether family work could benefit you, who is best attending meetings, how often we will meet, and where we could meet.
Usually we then meet with you individually to listen to you and jointly identify your strengths, problems and needs.
